Strangers at home (moved)

Post by tosh6888 on Mon May 25, 2009 1:30 am

When I was a child, I tiptoed
with open arms to you for a hug,
and you gave me a teddy bear instead,
When I needed your attention most
and was almost in tears,
you bought me lots of toys to cheer me.
The TV, video and cartoons gradually took your place.
They became my entertainer and parent.
The only time I spent with you was in the car
to and from the baby sitter's place.

There were times when both of us
were either too tired or sleepy,
and we sat there in cold silence.
Now I am grown up and you are old,
I take you in my car,
and the uneasy silence continues.
I ask you what you want to eat,
where you want to go

Which doctor you want to see.
I continue to play with my toys - my car, my mobile phone, my golf
as you try to reach out to me...
